The New Balance Fresh Foam Vongo v3 is a highly cushioned, dynamic stability shoe is designed for runners with mild to severe over-pronation. It's an excellent option for runners that might usually train in a neutral shoe because they don't like the stability felt underfoot with normal stability shoes.
New Balance has increased the amount of Freshfoam midsole cushioning by 2mm over the Vongo v2, creating a more comfortable landing from heel to toe.
The magic of the New Balance Vongo is that rather than use medial posing with plastic bridging or dual density foams, the Vongo V3 uses a slightly higher and offset midsole shape to create a varus wedge, helping prevent the foot from rolling inwards. The foam on either side of the shoe is purposefully shaped to allow for more a little more compression on the lateral side
The outsole of the New Balance Fresh Foam Vongo v3 uses blown rubber with a full length flex groove throughout the sole that provides flexibility for natural foot movement. More durable rubber is used for the outsole in high-wear areas.
The majority of the changes to the shoe over the previous model are found in the upper. The New Balance Fresh Foam Vongo v3 moves to a more open air mesh with 3D Print overlays to improve stability while the sock liner bootie construction keeps things flexible and comfortable.
The New Balance Fresh Foam Vongo v3 now has a stack height of 27mm for the heel and 23mm at the forefoot, maintaining the 4mm heel to toe offset and it weighs in at 10.6oz for men and 8.9oz for women.
The New Balance Vongo v3 is an excellent choice for those runners looking for a high mileage shoe that provides dynamic stability when you need it but stays out of the way when you don't.
